Most MBs aren't even capable of 3-way SLI using high-end, double slot video cards, so I decided to take advantage of my MBs best attributes - 3 PCIe 16 slots for 3-way SLI. Besides, 3-way SLI should overclock better than a single ATI video card - no matter what it is. I'll start tweaking the system as time allows. 12 GB of RAM was a simple choice. Maximize the potential of the MB for minimal expense. Even my DDR3 (2000) RAM (w/ heatsinks & cooling fans), 12GB cost comparatively little more than many alternatives. I'll post pix sometime soon. With this Asus P6T7 WS SuperComputer MB (Socket 1366), when the Intel Core i9 processors are released, Asus will have a supporting bios and I'll have the option to upgrade to the next level. I have been on the Asus forums and there are Core i9 processors being beta tested in some Intel X58 based Asus MB already. I believe Asus has Core i9 beta bios available for 4 of their intel X58 based MBs. I am very pleased with my new build so far. I took great care during assembly, and it booted perfectly upon initial power up. I was as pleased as a proud parent can be (well - almost)

you could have bought two 5870s and set them up in Crossfire mode and would have been faster than 3 of your Nvidia cards and cheaper... Glad you're happy with your box... I love the feeling of a fresh new upgraded box.. I love the smell of new computer components...

OK - Did some more OCing. Turns out I'm better off OCing the hell out of the processor n runnin the GPUs at a more sane speed. I was running my Core i7 920 2.667GHz processor at 4.2GHz for a while, but it was unstable. Attachment:

I am now runnin my Core i7 920 2.667GHz processor at 4.1GHz & I'm stable. Attachment:

The standard Core Clock of an Nvidia GTX-260 is 300. I was OCing the GPUs to a Core Clock of 800 while OCing the CPU to 3.6GHz. BFG overclocks my GTX-260 MaxCore 55s to a Core Clock of 590 & thats where it remains while OCing the CPU to 4.1GHz. I also bested my previous 3DMark06 score with a 23109 !! Attachment:

I only ever played the Crysis Demo 7 that was quite a while ago. My machine plays COD MW2 very well though...

Totally forgot to raz on you for this...lol but, you spent all that money on 3 Video cards and 12 GB or RAM... but yet you're running 7,200 RPM Big arse HDDs ... Why didn't you get velociRaptors? My professional opinion... save the money on the video cards (for one) Get the Fastest out... (only needed one) and saved the money on the RAM... 8 GB is more than enough and then spent the rest of your dough on couple of Raptors... don't know why you'd have 1.5 TB of storage on a gaming rig...

Its not just my gaming rig. Its my Home Server. I use my RAID to store everything - all my files, music, and videos. My wife stores her files there too. I also use Windows Media Center to record TV to the RAID. The build wasn't about building the fastest gaming rig, although I'm glad its fast. I wanted to use the P6T7 WS SUperComputer MD w/ dual chips (instead of a North Bridge/South Bridge chipset architecture) to its potential. The dual chips actually adds a slight bit of latency in some instances which is frowned upon by the hardcore gamer community. But it lends itself to overclocking.
My Socket 1366 MB will also accept the new Intel Core i9 32ns processors when they are released. Asus is already offering beta BIOS' supporting the beta Core i9 32ns processors. So I am well positioned to upgrade to the latest and greatest processors when the Core i9s are released. 12 GB of RAM was a no brainer. The 6 GB kits were less than $200 each so why not max out the MB.
I have my 1.5TB primary drive, two 1.5 TB as a RAID 1, two SATA Opticals, & I can still add 3 more SATA drives if I choose. I can even configure a second RAID if I feel the need. The GTX-260's were about $170 each so again, why not max out the MB and go 3-way SLI. That was one of the reasons I bought the MB in the first place. The newest bios, just released earlier in March actually supports 4-way SLI.
I am learning plenty during my endevoers to overclock my rig. That was a very big part of my build decision as well. I am overclocking my puny Core i7 920 beyond what the $1100 Core i7 975 Extreme does box stock. I am very pleased with my build and it will serve me well for many years to come.

why are you guys even using hard disks anymore lol, no ones using solid state? if i was building a new system, I'd think that would be the first thing I'd go for. At least just to hold the OS and games.
